Levitra Generic Launched
November 1, 2018 – Lannett Company has announced an agreement with Rivopharm SA to become the exclusive distributer of its vardenafil hydrochloride 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg tablets in the United States. The tablets are generics for Bayer’s Levitra® and indicated to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).
Vardenafil hydrochloride tablets received FDA approval in 2011. They should be taken as needed, with a recommended dosing of 10mg once in a 24-hour period. The dose can be increased to 20mg in a 24-hour period if needed. For patients over the age of 65, the starting dose should be decreased to 5mg. Other adjustments may be necessary depending on the patient’s health and additional medications they may be taking.
Lannett has already launched all doses of the vardenafil hydrochloride tablets in the U.S. at a wholesale acquisition cost (WAC) of $1,335.02 for a 30-count bottle. Levitra’s WAC is $1,545.16. This is the first time a generic has been made available for Levitra.
