Flonase Approved For OTC Availability
July 24, 2014 – GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Flonase (fluticasone propionate 50 mcg spray), to be available over the counter for allergy relief.
There are approximately 50 Million allergy sufferers in the United States and GSK estimates that more than $17.5 Billion was spent on health-related costs associated with allergic rhinitis and more than 6 million work and school days were missed as a result of allergies.
Flonase is anticipated to be available over the counter early in 2015.
Adverse reactions or quality problems experienced with the use of a recalled product may be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program either online, by regular mail or by fax.
