Technivie Approved for Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Genotype 4

July 24, 2015 – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Technivie (ombitasvir, paritaprevir, and ritonavir) for use in combination with ribavirin for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 4 infection in patients without cirrhosis (scarring and poor liver function).  Technivie is manufactured by AbbVie.  The recommended dose for Technivie is two tablets once daily, preferably in the morning, with a weight-based ribavirin twice daily. The published wholesale acquisition cost (WAC) of Technivie is $76,653 for the 12 week regimen. 

Adverse reactions or quality problems experienced with the use of a recalled product may be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program either online, by regular mail or by fax.
